What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of Classical Chinese Medicine that involves the insertion of thin, single use sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate the flow of energy (Qi) and promote healing. You can read more about it here.
Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles used in acupuncture are very thin and typically cause little to no pain when inserted. Patients may experience a mild sensation of warmth or pressure at the needle site, but it should not be painful.

What conditions can acupuncture treat?
Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of physical, mental and emotional conditions.
How many acupuncture treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will depend on the individual and the condition being treated. Some patients may see results after just one treatment, while others may require a series of sessions to achieve the desired outcome.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, when performed by a licensed and qualified practitioner, acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment with minimal side effects.
What should I expect during an acupuncture session?

Initially we will sit down and have a chat about what you would like treatment for. I will then determine the best course of treatment for that session. You will be required to remove clothing depending where the needles will need to be inserted, most common are the limbs, face, ear and head so trousers and socks are usually all that are required to be removed. I will then proceed with treatment and will always inform you of what I am doing and if you are curious why I am doing it.

Are there any side effects of acupuncture?

Side effects of acupuncture are typically mild and may include some muscle soreness, this is predominantly after musculoskeletal treatment.

Can I combine acupuncture with other medical treatments?

Yes, acupuncture can be used in conjunction with other medical treatments. It is important to inform your healthcare provider of all treatments you are receiving to ensure safe and effective care.
